One costs $990, the next $4,900. Nobody explains the difference. This article does. What is in a package, what seven agencies really charge in year one, and the one question no pricing page answers: how do you know the site brought you customers? What is inside a website design package --------------------------------------- Almost every package bundles four things: - **Pages.** Usually 4 to 10. More pages, higher price. - **Design.** A template with your logo and colours, or a custom design. This is the biggest price driver. - **Hosting.** The server, SSL and backups. Sometimes included, sometimes monthly, sometimes not included at all. - **Maintenance.** Updates and small changes, often capped at 30 or 60 minutes a month. That is it. When you compare website packages for small business, you are comparing how much of these four things you get. What small business website design packages cost in year one ------------------------------------------------------------ Agencies split prices differently: setup fee here, monthly there, a promo rate for six months. The only fair comparison is the **year-one total**: setup plus twelve months. All figures from each agency's own pricing page, checked 26 August 2026. Then it drops to $249. Look for the words "for six months". 2. **Hosting changes the total a lot.** Succeeding Small's $2,500 site costs $3,400 or $4,600 in year one, depending on the hosting plan. 3. **Reporting is a tier feature.** Gold Strategics includes a monthly report on the $215 plan, not the $80 one. The one thing no package includes --------------------------------- Look at the last column. Six agencies. None of them tell you whether the website brought you customers. Google Analytics counts visits. It does not tell you that someone filled in your quote form on Tuesday after finding you on Google Maps. For a small business, that is the only number that matters. You pay for pages. What you want is the phone to ring. And nobody measures that. What a package should be measured by ------------------------------------ One number: **268**. That is how many enquiries came through the website form of one FLYNK client, a removals company, from March to August 2026. Real people, with name, phone number and what they needed moved. These are not estimates. The numbers come straight from the client's FLYNK dashboard, pulled on 26 August 2026. All in one inbox, next to 77 Google reviews (4.9 stars), 44 Facebook messages, 22 Instagram messages and 19 TikTok comments from the same six months. 432 entries in total, and each one shows where it came from. Nobody at that company talks about page count. They talk about how many quotes came in this week. Six questions to ask before you sign ------------------------------------ 1. **What happens in month seven?** Ask for the year-one and year-two total, one number each. 2. **Do I own the site, the domain and the content?** If the answer has "after full payment" in it, get it in writing. 3. **What do you report to me each month?** "We install Google Analytics" is not a report. Ask to see a real one. 4. **Can you show me where my last ten enquiries came from?** If the answer is no, the package measures pages, not customers. 5. **Who makes changes after launch, and what does it cost?** New hours, new photo, new price. Ask for the rate. 6. **Is SEO included or a separate package?** Most website design and SEO packages are sold apart. "SEO optimized" often just means the title tags were filled in. Monthly packages or one-time price? ----------------------------------- Website design monthly packages get a bad name because of "$549 all-in" contracts that add up to more than an agency build. The model is fine. What matters is what the monthly fee covers. If it covers hosting, updates, changes, reporting and lead tracking, it replaces four invoices. If it covers hosting only, it is a hosting bill with a nicer name. Why FLYNK costs $649 a month ---------------------------- $649 a month is a lot more than a $78 monthly package. Here is what the money buys, so you can judge whether it is worth it: - **The website, built and live within four weeks.** Not a template you finish yourself. - **Google Business Profile and socials, kept in sync.** Change your opening hours once, it updates everywhere. - **One inbox for every enquiry.** Website form, Google reviews, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube. Each entry shows where it came from. - **Unlimited small changes.** New photo, new price, new text. No hourly rate. - **Monthly report and a live dashboard.** The same one the 268 enquiries above come from. - **Monitoring and a blog post every quarter.** Someone is watching the site, and Google keeps seeing fresh content. After six months you choose: keep going, drop to Standby at $169 a month (hosting, small changes, dashboard stay on), or leave with the code, domain and content. Year one: $4,908.
